|Plaster only||With skim finish|
Plastering the walls in a modern home is usually a case of stripping back the old plaster as far as the plasterboard and starting again. A plasterer will apply a base coat and a skim coat on top of that if needed. In most cases the current plasterboard will be sound, but if it is damaged or damp then your plastering professional will replace it.
If the plaster in your modern home is still in good condition but just has a few cracks then it will just need a thin skim of plaster. This is a very skilled job, as it is hard to skim plaster and make it even. It will, however, be far cheaper than having your walls entirely re-plastered. The cost of the job will depend on how large the walls or rooms that you need plastering are. Your plasterer will be happy to provide a quote, which will usually be based on the square metre size of the room to be plastered or skimmed and filled.
