Who needs to know when installing a new consumer unit

Hi Frank If you are changing your consumer unit it is notifiable under Part P to building control of your local council. If you are competent you could change it yourself but then have to get the work inspected at your own cost about 100-150 Otherwise employ a Part P reg electrician who will do the work, sign it off, give you a certificate and notify building control on your behalf. They can do this because they get assessed on a annual basis by their organization i e NICEIC or NAPIT Hope this is the info you wanted to know Russ

You. If you got regular inspection of electrics you should received certificate where you can find recommendation or notice about condition of electric circuits . I am sure you have no electrical condition rapport at present . As owner of property you are responsible to make property safe .

What would you like to do now?
