Hi Keith any reputable tradesman should have public liability insurance for their own peace of mind. One accident could have serious financial consequences do not employ anyone who doe's not have it. Ed

Hi Keith, All tradesmen who sign up to Rated People are ID checked against the electoral roll, credit reference agencies and their UK DL or passport. It is however the responsibility of the homeowner to satisfy themselves that the tradesman is appropriately qualified to complete the job prior to accepting a quote. With regards to public liability insurance, this is not required for many jobs within the trade. Therefore, reviewing ratings and qualifications is the most important step when choosing a tradesman on, or outside, of Rated People. We strongly recommend that all customers carefully consider the comments and feedback of a tradesman’s past customers and never award work on the quoting price alone. Best Wishes, Josh The Ask an Expert Team
