My experience with Green Kite, from start to finish was excellent. All staff were polite, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Their products were of a really high quality and I would not hesitate to recommend them and use them again.
Company responded quickly to original request and seemed to have sorted out all the velux windows as requested. The charge was reasonable although I didn't receive the invoice and receipt that I requested which caused a record problem. I brought the company back to do a second job - fixing a leak around one of my velux windows and also carrying out some smaller roofing repairs. Company went to great efforts to get the right slates which I appreciated. Unfortunately the leak wasn't fixed properly and when we went up on the roof we found the seal around the window was loose and clearly hadn't been fixed down properly. the servicing of the velux windows also seems to have only temporarily fixed the problems and slowly one by one the motors are failing again. The charge for the work was OK but again I didn't (despite requests and promises) receive an invoice breaking down the charge or a receipt. Level of workmanship was OK but admin is sloppy and the company will need to sort that out.
We had the brickwork of our house re pointed. GB Builders carried out a first class job. The team were friendly, obliging and professional throughout. If I need builders in the future I will definately use this company again

Hello, I’m Richard. I’m a carpenter, originally from Bath, with over 20 years’ experience in the trade. Whilst carpentry is my specialism, I am happy, and able, to do all types of building work. I used to sub-contract to bigger firms but, this year, I started Black Dog Construction. My business is named after my Labrador, Luna; it’s her little face you see on my logo. She likes to come to work with me, although she still has a lot to learn about carpentry. My story is a bit unusual so let me bring you up to speed. I started this line of work before meeting my wife, Jen. We began our relationship just as she was about to join the Army. Being married to an Army lawyer comes with its challenges, not least because it’s impossible to win an argument against her. However, the main challenge we’ve faced is that we’ve lived apart a lot. We got married when Jen was posted to Germany. Since then, we’ve lived in Northern Ireland, London, Australia, Shrivenham, Middlesex and now York. To ensure some stability, I have generally stayed working for a firm in Suffolk (near my wife’s family) which has involved a lot of weekend commutes and time apart from Jen. The commute to Australia was a bit too far so I joined her there (it really wasn’t a tough decision). The two years we were there presented a wonderful opportunity to learn how carpentry was done Down Under. I came back with a lot of good friends, new skills and great memories. When we found out about the posting to York, we decided it was too far to commute and that we were done living apart (although I suspect this was more to do with Jen missing the dog than because she missed me). So Black Dog Construction was founded and here we are. Whilst working in Suffolk, I developed something of a niche in period property renovation and I understand the sensitivity required in conserving the history of these buildings. That said, I have built a lot of houses from scratch whilst working in Australia. My experience is, therefore, extremely broad and I take great pride in what I do for a living. What can I say? Richard was the perfect choice for the job not only did he fit the laminate flooring he fitted the skirting boards and a dozen internal doors. We were happy for him to have a key and come & go to suit himself. Hardworking doesn’t come close and he is the perfect workman to have in your home, clean & tidy and nothing was too much trouble for him. His price was extremely reasonable and he stuck very near to the original quote even though the job turned out to be significantly more complicated than first anticipated and took longer than we first thought. Matt's team did a full slate re-roof for me including removing a chimney stack and fitting a velux window. Matt replies quickly to emails and texts with clear answers.
