Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Low High
Ridge £150 £350

The ridge tiles on your roof are those that run across the apex of a pitched roof and they come in a variety of finishes and materials, although many will be terracotta or brick colour. These tiles provide a neat cap to your roof and they will be very noticeable if they become broken or missing. It is fairly rare for these ridge tiles to come loose, but if you spot any that are damaged or missing then you should get in touch with a roofer to make repairs and ensure that no further damage is done.

Ridge tiles can often be damaged by high winds or by reactions to snow or frost. Falling ridge tiles are very dangerous and missing tiles of this kind can mean that your roof will eventually leak. Your roofer will need to go up on the roof and inspect it for damage. The nature of this means that by having to get up on the roof for inspection it can take a while and this will be reflected in the costs. It is always best to get any roofing problems checked over by a professional, they will be able to spot any loose tiles or slates that may become problematic, as well as replacing or repairing your ridge tiles.

Rated People asked 41 of our registered roofers across the country to give approximate prices for repairing roofs and for laying new roofs.

Please note these are average costs which vary according to the type of roof, the part of the property and the size of the property.
