Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Heated towel rail

Low High
Heated towel rail £50 £100

The electric heated towel rail is a fairly simple piece of equipment, using an element to heat the liquid inside it (which is usually a heating solution consisting of water and an anti-freeze liquid) so that you can enjoy warm towels after your bath. The element can fail over time, but this can be replaced. In most cases the towel rail will need to be drained to be repaired, but your electrician will be able to fill it with the heating solution again.

The towel rail can also corrode and leak over time, which will also make it inefficient. Small leaks can usually be repaired and your electrical engineer will be able to advise whether this is a sensible course of action or whether fitting a new towel rail may be better. Where the towel rail has a heat control this may also fail over time. Your electrician will be able to repair this or fit a new one as needed.

Rated People surveyed 40 of our electricians across the country to find out how much it costs to carry out a range of electrical work on your home.
