Hello Trevor Not if it's been done properly it shouldn't. Has the job been done recently ? There could be an issue with your sub base , either not enough underneath or it may not have been compacted properly. The contractor should have supplied you with a guarantee , at least 2 years for block paving as if any settlement problems arise they are usually in the first year . If so you should get him back to fix it.

Hi, Also, have you been jet washing the drive by any chance, to much cleaning can remove the fine sand that is used to fill the gaps between the blocks. The sand helps to knit the blocks together so that the weight of a vehicle, for example, is spread out over a wider area. But as mark has said it usually is the sub base that is to blame. It should be a minimum of 150mm well compacted. It could also depend on the ground that is below the sub base. All top soil should have been removed, and if the ground was still quite soft then a membrane (Terram) should have been used between the ground and the sub base, this stops the sub base migrating (mixing) with the softer ground underneath.
