Need a RSJ fitted. Need loads worked out can anyone help?

Hi Matt as previous advice you need a structural engineer to workout loading and size of steel, building control will want to see this. Don't risk not having it done as it could affect any future house sale as they will want to see proof of compliance. Ed

Just to add, you can do it on line but the structural engineer calculations it is a "must have" if you intend to have the job sign off by the local building control authorities. Thanks

Hi Matt, First think first, you need to contact a local structural engineer in order to calculate the load of an RSJ metal beam, I presume you are planing to break through or demolate some supporting structural walls, but yes this will be the first step, after you will receive the calculations then any metal supplies merchant will be able to give you the correct RSJ and obviously the corect padre stone or metal plates which the RSJ will seat on; you will get all that from a structural engineer.
