Cutting plaster coving

How to cut an external mitre on coving

Hi Rodney use a mitre block and hand saw. You can make a mitre block yourself, screw two sections of timber (sections need to be deeper than the coving) together to form a right angle and mark a 45degree angle on one edge, square line down on the side. Use a saw to cut the timber at the 45degree angle making sure you accurately follow the lines. The block is now ready to use with an old handsaw, place the coving on the box and cut the correct angle. You maybe able to buy a mitre block from a DIY store, make sure it's deep enough to take the coving. Ed
