Hi Sam Firstly I would get an electrician in to carry out an ECIR (Electrical Condition Inspection Report) Prob cost you about 150 if he does a full thorough inspection This will tell you of what needs doing but ideally you should look at updating the consumer unit as a minimun to include RCD protection.Also a house built around that time will prob need earthing upgrade. Get a report carried out first and take it from there Hope this helps Russ
