The best way to cut laminated worktop

Joseph Hickey

Hi Bob, the best way to cut a laminated worktop is first upside down from front to back . I always use a skill saw and its best to invest in a new blade as you will get a cleaner cut. Good luck Joe

Hi Bob The best way to cut this type of wortop is using a router with a sharp cutter. Sometimes you can use a good jigsaw with a down cutting blade or a good plunge saw depending on what the cut is for. Remember that you always want to cut this type of wortop without damaging/chipping the finished edge so you may have to turn the worktop upside down to ensure a smooth cut and finish. Dean Dovetail

a router is the best way to cut a worktop but a good jigsaw will cut it out just make sure you use a blade that cuts on the way down in the jigsaw not one that cuts on the up as this will damage they edge of the laminate and use a masking tape to draw the lines on as this makes is easier to draw on and see the lines better and also helps stop the laminate chipping a little

Plunge saw, router, jig saw, hand saw. All these will cut a laminate worktop. The tool you use depends on what finish you need.
