Hi , artex can cover over most bad ceilings , but it is the most common design we plaster over, once you have the ceiling plastered you don't need it done again, multi finish plaster can cover the worst ceilings and still leave a polished finish ready for emulsion , thanks stephen

Hi Anne, No, it is not a good move. But that's my personal opinion. All the clients want to have old artex removed and nice, smooth ceiling done. I guess all up to your preferences.

Hi artexing ceilings is not a good move some times people artexing Thier ceilings to hide cracks nowadays people like flat ceilings but it's down to personal taste I beleave having artexing ceilings devalues the home

John Brown

No as artex is so outdated now & the price of repairing if required & skimming the ceiling to a nice flat finish ceiling should be no more expensive than artex. Also when it comes to selling the property artex may put off any perspective buyers.

It,s not as good as plaster finish , collects dust & is difficult to paint Was popular in the 80s , also there's not a lot of difference on price

Artex differs from plaster in that it was marketed as a material intended to receive a textured finish, thus enabling a ceiling to be finished without plastering skills.

Hello Anne, Only if you are 100% about doing it. Because the cost of rectifying it is high. Regards Michael
