What's the difference between skimming or plastering a wall?

Skimming is just the final coat of plaster, the last 2 mm or so. Plastering is generally the whole thing from the bare brick on. This can either be plasterboard that is fixed to the brick by various methods, usually a dry wall adhesive. That doesn't mean that it is dry but mixed to a thick consistency and dabbed on the back of the board then pushed on to the wall and made flat. After that it is skimmed. If you look on you tube it will explain and show you how it is done JC
