Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Letterbox

Low High
Letterbox £40 £60

Adding or altering a letterbox in a wooden door is a skilled job that should be undertaken by a carpenter or joiner. They will first need to measure up the letterbox and decide upon the size of the hole needed. They will then cut the hole out and tidy it up before fitting the letterbox and any surrounds, insulation or internal extras such as a wire basket for the letters to fall into.

If your letterbox needs repairs then this will usually be because the screws have come loose, a spring mechanism is damaged or the insulation has come away. Your professional should be able to deal with these simple repairs in a short space of time and reposition, repair or replace your letterbox at a low cost.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on external doors. We also asked about internal doors.

Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local carpenters and joiners.
