It can be backbreaking, but weeding is one of the most important jobs that you can do in the garden. Done properly, it will mean your garden is looking great and keep your lawn and soil healthy.

Weeding is as much about knowing what to leave in as knowing what to pull out. A gardener will pull out weeds at the roots and will also be able to tell you about which ‘weeds’ are worth keeping. There may be herbs or even wildflowers among what you would pull up yourself from the beds. Your gardener should follow up any weeding by using weedkiller in areas where weeds may grow back, such as at the edges of paths and patios. They will also make sure that chemicals are not used close to plants or flowers, or where you keep an organic garden.

Rated People surveyed 107 of our gardeners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work in your garden. Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact one of our local gardeners and garden designers.
