my house is 8 yrs old and several bricks have had their faces break off, these bricks are under the damp course line, what is the reason please?

Hi Billy This sounds like brick spall this happens when the bricks are soft and porous. This permits the brick to absorb and retain water which then can freeze and expand breaking away the brick surface.

It's due to water being retained when it freezes it expands I normally try and use engineering bricks below dpc
