We are purchasing a 1940s/50s bungalow and will be getting a survey shortly. There are no visible signs of damp internally and exterior brickwork looks ok however I'm told lime has not been used in the mortar and is like sand as you run your finger along it. All bungalows in the area would have been constructed along same lines does this mean they are all storing up potential problems? Would repointing the whole exterior make a difference or is this a structural problem? Thanks in advance.
