Porch extension

Posted by Jude Crompton, on
How much (and do you need planning permission) to have a 7 foot wide x 3 foot deep porch extension at the front of a house. Preference would be to build extension and remove the old external wall to open the front out, and add a new composite front door. Just an idea of cost and timescale would be great. Many thanks.

Hi Jude Planning for front porches is generally not required as long as you follow a couple of conditions , 1 , that the floor area does not exceed 3 square meters and also the original external door into the property remains , however building regulations still apply Regards Craig Notts renovations

Hi, A normal porch is around 3k, 2sqm. i would estimate your job at 7k ball park figure. you should not need planning but you might need building regulations, call the local council to find out. Regards SJH
