Depth of Foundation

Posted by Refik Omerbegovic, on
Hi, My neighbour and I had a shared wall for our garages. My neighbour is extending his house front, side and back. We have knocked down the old garage wall and laid a new shared foundation. We have done it as per structural engineers design so that it can carry two storey building on either side. As his house is on a slightly higher ground he has 600mm above the foundation up to DPC on main house, where as I have 390mm - 400mm. I guess i have enough for a block, and two bricks (with 10mm of mortar), but that still leaves me with a gap of 15mm-25mm to the DPC. I understand that slips are 25mm+ so wont fit. How can the can gap be closed so that the wall on my extension is in line with the main house? Is this something that happens often, or have been done over? Your advice would be appreciated.
