Upgrade of Kitchen conservatory roof and walls

Posted by Marilyn Owusu, on
I am about to purchase a property where the conservatory has been converted into a kitchen but does not meet building regulations as the walls are of one skin and the roof is polycarbonate. What can I do to upgrade the conservatory to building requlation standard without pulling the whole thing down. What would be the next best materials to use for the roof which is not too expensive?

Hi Marilyn To be honest there aren't any really good options here, I wouldn't recommend buying such a property as you are quite possibly buying lots of problems. Building regulations are there to prevent future problems with cold, condensation, damp and subsidence to name a few. The only real way improve such space would be to pull down and start again, this should all have been picked up by a surveyor and it would quite possibly reflect in any sell on price Martin
