Hi A this type of question gets asked over and over again and it still amazes me that people are talked into handing over large sums of money to builders they barely know! There is no need to order all materials for a large project at once so why do they need all the money up front and they are getting paid weekly for labour too, great if you can get it! You should have agreed stage payments with them so as each stage of the build is completed they receive payment, much safer for you and any reputable builder would be happy with this. It sounds like they do the disappearing act regularly so I doubt if it will end well for you. If you have their trading address send them a letter recorded delivery outlining your concerns and asking for a timescale for works to be completed, if no satisfactory answer is received legal action may be necessary.
