Builder supplying subcontractors for electrics and plumbing

Posted by Mr O, on
Our builder for a single storey extension is going to use sub-contractors for plumbing and electrics works. I would like to know if the builder would be responsible for their quality of work and their credibility i.e. GAS Safe registered and PART P Electric Certified

Hi O If you have given the full extension job to the builder and he is using sub contractors then he would be ultimately responsible for their workmanship. The electrical and gas work would need to be certified so I doubt he would be using unregistered contractors, it's perfectly normal for a builder to use a sub contractor for this type of work. If you have concerns then speak to your builder just to set your mind at rest. Ed.
