Knocking down a wall

Posted by Iysha , on
Hi, I wanted to knock through a wall in my kitchen to extend into the utility room as its far too big and I think a bigger kitchen would be more beneficial. is this job quite expensive?

Hello, It can be but not overly. The first thing to establish is, Is the wall a load bearing wall? This can be done by the builder but ideally (and to cover yourself and for insurance reasons) should be done by a qualified surveyor, this can cost anything between £80 and £200. Knocking down the wall itself it not a huge job, just messy. Making the surround (where the old wall was) neat and tidy again will add additional cost.
