Hi Paul, It a good place to find work. But the down side is rated people gives very low price guidelines to potential clients without even considering the price of the lead or vat. For eg I’ve just seen a lead just now. To repair a leaking waste pipe inside a wall. It involves damp proofing render and plaster. By the look of it the customer will expect decorating. Job is £250 - Lead is £20 - Vat £50 - materials £90 - travelling expenses. Due to drying time the job will have to be done on 2 separate days. Leaving you with £55 per day for wages and that doesn’t include other expenses like public liability insurance etc. They should not tell clients the price of the jobs if they don’t know because it give them false expectations and when builders put their quotes obviously the job doesn’t go ahead leaving the poor tradesmen out of pocket. Because it is very hard to get leads refunds. It’s a brilliant idea but can be improved for the benefit of everybody.
