Buildings regs and certs

Posted by Steph Collin, on
How long does it take to receive your building regs/certs once discussed? How can I tell whether our builder has obtained these on our behalf?

Hi, normal procedure would be going through building control at your local council, which would mean your builder has informed council what he is doing either with a building notice or full plans permission, the council will then send a building inspector to inspect your works at different stages of the build,if any electrical work has been done the electrician will have to supply a certificate, your builder would have had to pay the council and a normal cost for a extension would be around £500,if the council are happy with the finished job they will send the householder a certificate within two weeks.if you were at home while building work was undertaken you should have seen a building inspector at some point visiting your house,if you didnt then its possible your builder hasnt obtained them.

What would you like to do now?
