I'm looking to add value onto my house what is the best way to do this

I currently live in a two bedroom house in Newcastle, with room on the back of my property to extend my house ideally I don't want to spend a lot of money on this house as I know this is not going to be my forever home but I want to make money on it as I want to move to a more expensive area so when I have children they can get into a better school but Im not sure what I could do to my house other than extend to add greater value
