Hi,
I'm planning an extension to the side of our 1970s detached house in the next couple of years. Before then, I'd like to get cavity wall insulation installed to make the existing house much warmer as we’re having a baby at the end of November.
However, when we do the extension, it will be necessary to knock through some openings through the cavity wall. If the cavity has been filled with insulation, does this make it a much more difficult and expensive job?
I've heard horror stories of micro beads pouring out of cavity walls as soon as they have a small hole in them, which we obviously want to avoid!
I also wondered if using fibre insulation would be a better option than the micro beads, as that might not cause as many problems when knocking through the cavity wall. Very grateful for advice please.
