You will probably find the plaster behind is weak also, so is coming off with paper. you will need to do your best and probably end up plastering and skimming walls.

How can I remove difficult wallpaper from the walls in my house?
The wallpaper was put up in the 70s and I'm damaging the wall when trying to scrape it off.
