Wooden kitchen cabinets

Posted by Karen Buttery, on
Hi, I have an old oak kitchen that I want to revamp which must have been in for 50 years..it is so solid it will last another 50.. I am loathed to part with it for a flimsy new one..(The unit doors are still fine however some have discoloured( with the sunshine.. some are fine) What do I apply after I have sanded them down, to bring out the wood?, someone said a light stain then a wax? Appreciate your comments, thanks Karen

Karen, This all depends on what type of finish you are looking for eg matt, sheen, gloss, stain etc i would use Danish Oil by Rustins or Ronseal. Get a hold of it in all DIY stores, easy to apply and brings out the grain to a beautiful long lasting finish. minimum of three coats required
