Take out the inner sash by removing the staff bead ( the bead holding the window in ) only one side then pull out the sash as much as poss and remove the nails holding the cords, being careful not to let the window drop. Then push the outer sash to the top and remove the parting bead ( the thin bead separating the sashes ) then attempt to take out thebox cover. This may be difficult because it probably been painted over many times. It's normaly cut at a forty five degree ange with screws in top and bottom. Best of luck. JC
