Boarding a loft (not on site as a category)

Posted by Paul Blundell, on
(had to insert dashes to let me post, dumb website filtering) Can't see it in the c-ost g-uides. What b-udget should I set for boarding my loft? 3 bedroom 60's semi Attic space is high enough to stand up in. It has just been insulated by British Gas so it needs to be on top of this. Attic has many north to south beams, but has two beams east to west that are about 8 inches higher so the floor would be at this height, would probably need to add small supports. The attic is already lit with two mains lights. Current access is via standard push up hatch.

Hi Paul you don't say how big the loft area is so it's difficult to say. You would definitely need to put supports to span from one ceiling tie to the other (the two beams east to west) the size would depend on the distance between them. Set a budget of £750 as a rough guide. Ed
