Canopy support

Posted by Craig Jackson, on
I have an extended canopy over a large bay window which has been supported for over 30 years by a metal pole. This pole has now snapped and I need to sort something quickly as the weight of the canopy is causing it to drop. Can I get someone to fit a replacement support pole or will it have to be some kind of bracket? Really not sure what type of tradesman to contact. Had someone call today but not within their remit unfortunately.

A quick temporary solution would be installation of a metal builders prop (acrow prop). A general builder, bricklayer or carpenter should be able to assist with permanent repairs. A metal, timber or brick support would be the correct permanent repair and the joint between the canopy and exterior wall should be checked to ensure the movement has not created cracking in render or brickwork that could allow water to get in and cause further damage. Suitable trades can be found in the Job posting section.
