The wooden frame to my rear garage door has rotted near to the ground - for about 8 inches. Need to replace the rotten bit please.

Hi You will need to have the have the rot cut away and into solid wood Once this has been removed, new timber can be added Please note a flat but joint is not recommended as is not strong Using resin glue and not plain wood glue is recommended Treat the new wood and build up the amount of paint or stain Also if you can avoid end grain being exposed at the bottom of the door this will help moisture not being drawn into the timber Regard David
