Posted by d ilyas, on
I need 2 door frames replaced and doors re-hung. Is this a difficult task? Do I need a carpenter or joiner = what is the difference

You will require a joiner but is quite a simple job so a carpenter or someone good at DIY should be able to do it

Hi D a carpenter /joiner are the same thing it just depends on which part of the country you are as to which term you use ( although you do get bench joiners who tend to stick to working in a joinery workshop). It's always a lot easier to fit a new door in a new frame than in an existing frame where they can be all over the place, but still a skilled job especially if you are working with hardwood doors ( oak etc). If you are down south or most of the midlands it's a carpenter you need, up north it's a joiner. Ed
