Securing a tall standing unit.

Posted by Aaron Platt, on
I'm a young carpenter per say so I still have a few things to learn. I would like to know the best option for securing a tall standing cabinet flush to the back wall because the wall itself its horrendously out of level. Can i scribe the back of the cabinet to fit the wall?

Hi Aaron yes you can scribe the unit to the wall, place the unit in position, set it at the right height and plumb. Measure the largest gap behind the unit and cut a spacer block to this measurement, with the block against the wall and unit draw it down the wall using a pencil to trace the irregularities in the wall on to the unit. Just be careful that it doesn't pull the tall unit out of line with the other units, you can always reduce the amount you cut off the tall unit any small gaps left can be covered with a silicone unit. You have done the right thing asking for advice, hope it goes well for you. Ed
