Gaps in apartment door

Posted by Irene Milman, on
I just moved to a new rented condo with a door that appears to have gaps - when the lights are turned off inside at night, I can see thin strips of outside light all around the door, which makes me very uncomfortable. There is a floor sweep that hardly even touches the floor. I am worried about bugs getting in through all those gaps, plus extra high air conditioning bills. The door also rattles a little bit when it is locked if I juggle the door knob. The metal plate at the bottom seems to be flat, and I have been able to push a heavy magazine into the apartment when standing outside. Can anyone please suggest what needs to be done to make this door more secure?

If you go to your local BandQ buy some weather strips which comes on a roll with sticky back in different thicknesses stick this to the door frame that should work.
