Water damage to joists

Posted by Andrea Forsyth, on
Good afternoon, I have recently had a new bathroom fitted and during this being done a leak occurred which caused damp patches on the living room ceiling. The leak has been sorted and the bathroom fitters are to repair the damage to the living room ceiling but before this is done I want someone to check that there is no damage to the joists caused by the leak and that the area is dry before being plastered and decorated. I am unsure as to the correct trades person to direct this to and would very much appreciate some assistance. Many thanks Andrea

Unless you had a long term leak the joists should be fine if the leak has been fixed and a few weeks have passed then you should be fine If you have joist damage for a short term leak then it is unlikely that this leak caused the problem
