I’m just moving into a new property which was built 1930/40s..
I love the house but the problem is the stairs. They are so steep and narrow with winders at the top. Pretty sure they wouldn’t pass today’s building standards!.
After the top 3 winders there are only 8 steps. The bottom of the stairs doesn’t come as far as to obstruct the headroom of the ceiling. In fact, there is over 8ft of headroom.
I would really like the winders to be taken out to be level with the landing and the stairs to be extended out into the hall so it’s at a less steep angle. I’m not sure if that’s doable as the existing flight of stairs are very short.
Any advice would be appreciated
Many thanks ??
