Loft hatch

Posted by BARRY ROFFEY, on
I currently have a hatch into our bungalow loft and a few years back had a proper loft ladder fitted. Unfortunately my current loft hatch is the lift up type which means I have to get up the step ladder to push the hatch open before I can then use our pole to pull down the ladder and then release it in stages. What I would like is for someone to convert my push - up hatch to a pull down one and attach the loft ladder to the hatch door so that it operates as one. It would also require the fitting of a suitable simple lock so that it could be locked in the closed position. What I don't know is whether this could be done by a carpenter or a loft specialist , could you please advise. I believe that this would take little more than one day. Thanks.
