There are two things wrong here, rain water penetration to the exterior(when the render becomes loose, water gets trapped behind it and soaks into the wall over an extended period)which could damage the corresponding interior render or plaster. And condensation, which can also affect the interior plaster by moisture absorption . With this information one can question any quotes you get.
