I have damp on my dining room wall where the garden wall joins

Can a vertical dpc be fitted to an external wall to stop damp from overcoming the existing horizontal chemical dpc fitted to the house.
It is on an end of terrace house where the garden wall is a continuation of the house flank wall the two were built together and I think the garden wall is short circuiting the house dpc
