En suite shower tray leak and kitchen ceiling cracked.

Posted by Tracy Hannah, on
Shower tray sealant needs replaced but tradesman also advised shower walls need to be replaced. If problem is with sealant why do I need to replace shower walls? Also I presume I need a plasterer to sort my kitchen ceiling but which type of tradesman would fix my shower? Many thanks.

Hi Tracey, The reason the tradesman would replace the shower wall, is because the plaster board behind the tiles soaks up like a sponge and the brakes down. so when you take of the tiles, the board would just crumble. A plumber/ bathroom fitter would be able to complete all of the work in the shower area. a plasterer/general builder to cut out damp patch, reboard and plaster ceiling. thanks stuart s Thompson home improvements
