Black mould on walls is normally caused by condensation, which is a build up of moisture within the property. When this moisture comes into contact with a cold surface then the condensation is formed. Remedies include provide adequate ventilation throughout the property, open windows when cooking, do not dry clothes on radiators, and keep the property warm. If the problem persists then you could install a dehumidifier. The black mould which forms as a result of condensation can be removed with common household bleach. Care should be taken when applying to coloured surfaces.

As already said, ventilation is your problem, check your air bricks haven't been plastered over inside or rendered over on the outside. I've lost count of the amount of air bricks I have had to reinstate this year, it all started in the big double glazing boom many years ago.

Hi, If the mould is on the interior of the wall you can try sanding the area with some course sand paper, was with diluted bleach, rinse off and it should be ready for painting. Andy

It depends where the mould is , it could be air ventilation is the problem , or rising damp .Or it could be from the external wall causing damp on the inside. Contact a good builder on rated people with good ratings.
