How much charcoal is needed to remove humidity from a house ?

It's a vacation house, we use it a month every year, (a week during winter, an other week during spring, and a couple weeks every summer)
therefore, it remains closed about 11 months every year.
it started to smell really damp and musty, i searched online and i found that charcoal will remove the smell; but how much do i need? like, in every m² ?
