I moved into a new house a few months ago and I have just had a room skimmed and then painted. Since the weather changed I have developed a few patches on the which are believe are caused by different reasons. I'm not sure of the best way to deal with the issue but i'm not fussed about going back to the brickwork to sort it out if that's required, I could do with some advice of the best solutions.
1. Since temperatures dropped an area of paint started powdering and discolouring (I don't think its salt because repainting over causes a build up but just wiping clear removed the excess, just leaving the discolouring on the wall). I have a stone house with brick interior and I think the area in question is where the connection stone is built into the brickwork, when temperatures are low the internal wall temperature is noticeably lover in the affected area. Is there a paint, mesh or plaster additive that can be used to stop the penetration?
2. The other issues looks like damp coming through the wall under my window, I assume this may be sealant under the window and/or pointing on the exterior. is there anything that can be applied to the interior to prevent the issue?
Thanks
