Hello Tradespeople,
I have a damp problem, which is localised on a wall, just where the chimney is behind it.
There was a very small damp patch last year, but this year it has grown in size considerably, and needs urgent attention.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if its rain coming straight from the chimney, a broken crown, flashing etc. causing this.
I asked a roofer to take a look, but before he looked at anything, he seemed to advocate removing the chimney altogether, and just piping out the wood burning stove flue.
As an alternative, he did say that rendering the chimney might help.
He said that roofers will claim that they can fix this issue, but in reality, I'm better off removing the whole thing.
I am not sure whether I should persue repairing the issue, or removing the chimney - any advice would be greatly appreciated!
