Walls patchy being painted

Posted by Alison Collins, on
I have had my hallway painted with silk paint. The walls look patchy and I have told by tradesmen that this is normal and I would never get a good finish with silk paint. Is this correct.

I was lead to believe via painting walls ceilings ect , you should paint the first coat with matt then the silk. Regards

Hi Alison. I would agree with Phillip. If the prep is poor, then it does not matter how much paint goes on, the finish will look poor. Silk and matt give a different finish but both should not be patchy

Hi Alison, This would normally occur if the preparation was not done properly. If he has put adequate amounts of coats on and this depends on colour etc. this should not occur. I would have him back to fix the problem as it is not normal.
