Hi Richard the real criteria is how wide is the crack interior does it go right through the wall, better check with structural engineer, if he says it's okay not devastating, suggestions break the plaster from the crack 2-3 inches either side, then bridge the cracks with plates drill and secure. Then re-render make good. Bob Glen.
