Laura all tradesmen have various methods, the one I find works is line the walls let them dry out completely,if the joins are visible I use grade 120# sandpaper and rub carefully over the seam, when level paint the colour of the paint down the joins, for me this works as my client of now stressed that she did not want lines showing and I got rid of them by the above method.
