Paint flaking off new plastered wall

Posted by Diane Hawthorn, on
My bathroom has been plastered and I have emulsion the walls. The paint has started to flake off over the heated towel rail and also another patch has started to flake off above the toilet. I want to repaint it but I'm not sure if it will happen again

Hi Diane Did you thin the paint down for the first coat ? before painting on new plaster, you should paint a mist coat on first ,this is emulsion thinned out to nearly 50/50 water to emulsion, to soak into new plaster. then let that dry and then 2 x coats of emulsion ,but not silk paint as the steam runs down the walls. vinyl matt paint lets the walls breathe hope this helps stuart s Thompson home improvements
